We count on your donations to continue our life-saving work. As a non-profit organization with no paid staff members, our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly on behalf of local animals. And our efforts are paying off. Our innovative programs have been credited with reducing the number of animals who are euthanized at our local animal control facility. Our dream is that one day, no adoptable animals will be killed in area shelters. We thank you for helping us realize this dream.Visit the donation page to see where your money goes.
Stewie is not in the shelter--he is in our foster program. Stewie is a calm little gentleman. He is an adult, somewhere between 4-7 years, and weighs 16 pounds. He is well-behaved in the house, and does well with the other dogs in his foster home. He doesn't need constant attention, but does like to follow you around in hopes of getting a tummy rub. He loves to go for walks, but other than that doesn't need a lot of exercise. Most of all, he is funny yet dignified, sweet without overdoing it, and has a big personality in his small fluffy body. He has a specialness that just shines through to everyone who knows him. We are so happy to have him in our rescue program.
Stewie has had a tough life. He was found on a ramp of the Baltimore Beltway. He had lost a lot of hair, his ears were oozing with a ruptured ear drum, and his skin was inflammed. We got all of that under control with some grain-free, yeast-free food from a quality pet food store.
He then had a serious episode with a liver infection. He was hospitalized and made a good recovery. His liver values are now approaching normal. During this time, an xray also revealed that in the past, Stewie had been shot.
Now we notice Stewie is drinking and urinating more than normal. His doctor thinks it may be the results of the earlier liver infection. He feels great, loves his walks and especially loves dinnertime! But our plan to take him to a specialist in the early part of the year for further testing. Please stay tuned for progress reports, and if you would like to donate to Stewie's medical bills, it would be very appreciated.
