We count on your donations to continue our life-saving work. As a non-profit organization with no paid staff members, our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly on behalf of local animals. And our efforts are paying off. Our innovative programs have been credited with reducing the number of animals who are euthanized at our local animal control facility. Our dream is that one day, no adoptable animals will be killed in area shelters. We thank you for helping us realize this dream.Visit the donation page to see where your money goes.

You can MEET CASSIE at the Walk For Paws this SATURDAY SEPT 27 from 10:00 to 3:00 at Lake Elkhorn in Columbia.Cassie is a unique little 40 pound mixed breed dog who looks to have some Yellow Lab and Beagle in her. She has cream coloring, cute ears that tip over her face and has playfulness that reminds us of a Beagle. Cassie is just over a year old. She was found, thin, hungry and neglected. Cassie has been gaining weight well and her hair is coming back in with good nutrition. She is absolutely adorable to watch while she enterts herself with toys. She picks them up, tosses them around and chases them. What a smart girl.
She is obedient if you are consistent in your training. Cassie has a lot to learn about inside life. She stares questionably at our ticking clock on the wall, trying to figure out what it is. She stares at the stereo speakers as they play classical music. She tilts her head and listens to the sounds, just taking it all in. She couldn’t figure out what the camera was and she wanted to bark at a paper that was moving in the wind. She is very smart and will go up and explore new things if given the chance.
Cassie is very sweet and will put her paws on your leg and lay her head in your lap while you pet her. When Cassie is playing with her toys, she can be very quick to try to get the toys before you, so she would be a better match for a home with older children who can work on her training to give up toys and bones. Cassie did very well walking by cats here. She was curious, but not pushy and when one of the kitties hissed at her, she wanted to back away, so it looks like she may do okay if introduced slowly to a cat. Cassie does not get along with all dogs, so if you have a dog at home it would be important to bring them in to meet her.
