Your Donation Saves Lives!
We count on your donations to continue our life-saving work. As a non-profit organization with no paid staff members, our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly on behalf of local animals. And our efforts are paying off. Our innovative programs have been credited with reducing the number of animals who are euthanized at our local animal control facility. Our dream is that one day, no adoptable animals will be killed in area shelters. We thank you for helping us realize this dream.Visit the donation page to see where your money goes.

About Joey

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
Joey is an adorable small to medium dog who is super sweet once he gets to know you.  He can be slow to warm up, and once you read his story, you will understand why.  Before he made his way to us, he was shipped from a rescue down south to New England.  He was adopted by a young college student who was not able to care for him.  She brought him to her parents in Maryland who did not want him. They noticed he was scared of men, so in an effort to help him, sent him away for "training" with a man who uses shock collars!  Unfortunately, there are no rules or regulations in place and anyone can call themselves a trainer, which can be confusing for the public.  For a dog who was already fearful of men, sending him to stay with one who shocked him only proved to Joey that men are indeed dangerous.  And the rest of the world is unpredictable as well.

Since he has been with us, his behavior is improving almost daily.  He is a happy, loving dog with people he knows, and enjoys playing with other dogs.  Due to the previous damage inflicted upon him, we don't feel he is a candidate to live with men right now.  We will help you find an appropriate trainer who can help accelerate his progress in a positive and healthy way.   He's been neutered, vaccinated etc.  Joey is not in the shelter so please call 410 880 2488 ext 3 or always4tucker@yahoo.com for more info.
